Glenrothes – 1988 2nd Edition (44.1%)

Glenrothes 1988 Second Edition is a vintage single malt bottled in 2016, following the first 1988 edition released in 2009. When that first edition was put together, then Malt Master John Ramsay set aside casks he felt needed longer maturing, and they were judged ready seven years later. The whisky was matured in first-fill American sherry-seasoned hogsheads and refill sherry butts, and is bottled at 44.1% ABV. Its notes include blackcurrants, fruitcake, nutmeg and mixed peel. It is honeyed, rich and creamy, with a full, lingering finish of fruit and warming spice.
