Glenrothes 1988 Second Edition is a Speyside single malt distilled in 1988 and bottled at 44.1% in a 70cl bottle. A portion of the vintage was held back when the first edition appeared in 2009, and it matured for further years before this second edition followed.
The whisky was selected from first-fill American oak sherry hogsheads and refill sherry butts.
Nutmeg, fruitcake, roasted nuts and dark honey lead the nose. The palate is rich and rounded, with sweet honey and creamy vanilla, and the finish is full and lingering, with dried fruits and warming spice.
