Glenrothes – 1992 24 Year Old Ridge Zinfandel Cask Finish (70cl, 55.1%)

Glenrothes 1992 is a 24 year old single malt finished in a Zinfandel barrel from Ridge Vineyards in California, in a 70cl bottle. It was distilled in 1992 and matured in hogsheads until 2014, then moved into an American oak barrel that had held Zinfandel. Bottled in 2016 at a cask strength of 55.1%, it is non-chill-filtered and natural in colour, and comes from a run of 236 bottles. The nose is faintly winey and deeply scented, with a hint of warehouse. The palate is creamy and well balanced, with liquorice, and the finish is long and lingering.
