A single cask Glenrothes from Speyside, distilled in 1995 and matured for more than 25 years in first-fill sherry butt 6983. It was bottled in 2022 for La Maison du Whisky at a natural cask strength of 55.5%, in a 70cl bottle. The 448 bottles are neither chill-filtered nor coloured.
It belongs to the twelfth Artist collection, themed Antipodes, with label art by Gesine Arps.
The nose is rich and creamy, with dates, figs, chocolate, black liquorice and cool camphor. The palate is full and balanced, opening with apricot-like rancio, roasted coffee and malted barley, then juicy white peach. The long finish has fine tannins, currants, orange and caramel.
