This 31-year-old Glenrothes is a Speyside single malt from Elixir Distillers, released under The Single Malts of Scotland as A Marriage of Casks. It combines whisky from two casks, a hogshead and a sherry butt, and yielded 560 bottles. It is bottled at 53.2%, non-chill-filtered and without added colour. The sherry character is marked, with dark fruit sweetness, chocolate, wood and spice, set against leather, earthy notes and a hint of tar. The nose offers blackcurrant jam, raisins, dates and leather, with plums and cherries. On the palate come raisins, charcoal, stewed plums, molasses and liquorice, with ginger cake. The finish fades through polished oak and jam to nutmeg, allspice and brown sugar.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
