Gordon & MacPhail Ardmore 17 Year Old 1999 is a single cask Highland single malt, released for HNWS Taiwan at 55.5% ABV. It was distilled on 21 January 1999 and bottled in 2017, with 264 bottles drawn from the cask.
The whisky matured in a refill sherry hogshead, which adds a deep, savoury note to Ardmore's smoky character.
The nose brings damp woodland, porcini, cigar tobacco, orange liqueur, aged tea leaves and roasted coffee beans. On the palate it is savoury, with black pepper, ginger, cured meat, worn leather and roasted nuts. The finish is long and earthy, with tobacco, walnuts, green peppercorns and dry oak.
