Gordon & MacPhail Connoisseur's Choice Mortlach 2000 23 Year Old

This is a single malt from Mortlach, distilled in 2000 and matured for 23 years. It was bottled by Gordon & MacPhail as part of the Connoisseur's Choice range, which the family-run company presents as a changing collection of individual takes on distilleries' own bottlings. The notes describe toffee apples and cocoa powder giving way to lemon peel, with vanilla pod, cinnamon and a faint herbal edge alongside. Stewed plums and dark chocolate are balanced by soft black pepper, and orange oil and butterscotch lead on to mature oak.
