This is a single-cask single malt from Mortlach, selected by independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail for its Connoisseur's Choice range. The spirit was distilled in 2008 at the Dufftown distillery and bottled at cask strength, in a 70cl bottle.
Mortlach is known here for a rich, full-bodied and meaty character.
The nose combines cinnamon and ginger with dark fruit, stewed raisins, orange zest and a hint of roasted nuts. On the palate come sweet plum jam, black pepper, dark chocolate, toffee and toasted oak. The finish is long and warming, with baking spices, oak tannins and dried fruit.
