Hard Truth Sweet Mash High Road Rye is a straight rye whiskey made in Brown County, Indiana, by Hard Truth Distilling Co. It uses a sweet mash, made with fresh mash rather than sour mash backset, and is bottled as a small batch without chill filtration.
It comes in a broad-shouldered, flask-style bottle with a cork stopper.
The nose has cracked pepper, toasted rye grain, caramel, vanilla and charred oak. On the palate are baking spice, black pepper, toasted grain and oak, with a touch of caramel sweetness. The finish is long and warming, with spice, lingering rye and dry toasted notes.
