Heaven's Door Straight Rye Whiskey (70cl, 43%)

This is a straight rye whiskey from Heaven's Door, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. It is finished in toasted oak cigar barrels, made from oak that was air-dried for three years in the Vosges mountains of France. That finishing process is the brand's own, and it is meant to give a rounder, more approachable rye with orange peel, coriander and spice. On the nose it is herbaceous, with apple, citrus, spearmint and oak. The palate brings honey-coated marzipan, fresh-cut grass, fennel and dill, then clove, cinnamon, black pepper and orange peel, with chamomile, cedar, vanilla toffee and a hint of mango.
