First fill bourbon barrel
This Tasmanian single malt was distilled on 12 February 2004 and matured for 22 years in a first fill bourbon barrel of American oak, cask 4043.05. It was bottled in 2026 at a cask strength of 61.2%, without chill-filtration or added colour, and yielded 130 bottles. The spirit was made from heavily peated Scottish barley malt at 40 to 50ppm. La Maison du Whisky chose the single cask for its Collection Anthology. The nose shows germinating barley, earthy and phenolic notes, slate, smoked ham and smoked fish, with mirabelle plum and acacia honey behind. The palate is rich and smooth, with cigar smoke, soot, charcoal, lily and iris, then caramel sweetness and spicy oak. The long finish is dry and smoky, with pineapple, banana, lavender honey and a little vanilla.

About Glenbotal
