Hellyers Road 7 Year Old is an official distillery bottling of Tasmanian single malt, matured entirely in Spanish sherry casks and bottled at 46.2% ABV in a 70cl bottle. Tasmania's warmer climate speeds up maturation, which gives a full-bodied whisky for its age.
The distillery is known for an oily texture and strong oak integration, and the sherry casks fit that character: rich and spicy without heavy sweetness.
The nose brings raisins, dates, dark chocolate, orange peel and spicy oak. The palate is full and round, with dried fruit, nuts, cocoa, warm spices and firm wood. The finish is long, warming, spicy and led by the sherry.
