Hellyers Road 7 Year Old Slightly Peated is a Tasmanian single malt from the Hellyers Road Distillery in Burnie, bottled at 46.2% in a 70cl bottle. It is made from barley from Inverness and matured for seven years in first-fill American oak casks that previously held Heaven Hill bourbon.
The peat is light, and the profile pairs maritime and herbal impressions with peat smoke, campfire and honey sweetness. It is non-chill-filtered with no added colour.
The nose brings sweet tea, brine and sea salt, with sea breeze, oyster shell, green leaves, tree bark and a distant campfire. On the palate, peat smoke and herbs meet oyster shell and honey. The finish is medium in length and smooth, with gentle sweetness and restrained saltiness.
