Hellyers Road – 8 Year Old The Journeyman Single Malt (70cl, 46.2%)

Hellyers Road The Journeyman is an eight-year-old single malt from Tasmania, bottled at 46.2% in a 70cl bottle. It is not chill-filtered and has no added colouring. It matures in two stages: first in ex-bourbon casks of American oak, then for a longer period in old Australian tawny casks. The name comes from the distillery's Journeyman programme, in which whisky makers and specialists from around the world spend six months on site working with the team. The nose has gingerbread, baking spices and buttery fruit bread, with touches of tobacco and sandalwood. On the palate are red apples, toffee, syrupy plums, dark chocolate and Medjool dates, balanced by oak tannins. The finish is warm and long.
