Original Roaring Forty is the entry-level single malt from the Hellyers Road distillery in Tasmania, in a 70cl bottle at 40% ABV.
It is named after the Roaring Forties winds, which bring in the rain used in making the whisky. It is matured in American white oak barrels.
The nose is creamy lemon and vanilla, recalling lemon meringue pie, with hints of banana and toffee. The palate starts grassy before juicy pear and plum appear, and the finish brings peanut brittle and cedar.
