Hellyers Road – Select Casks (70cl, 45.5%)

This is a single malt from the Hellyers Road distillery in Burnie, Tasmania, bottled at 45.5% in a 70cl bottle. It marries two separately matured whiskies: a triple-distilled malt from ex-bourbon American oak casks and a malt from French oak port casks. It follows the idea behind Twin Oak and is not a port finish applied to the whole bottling. The whisky is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour. The nose is a subtle vanilla. On the palate, citrus marmalade and berries meet a lightly toasted note. The finish is long and soft, with lingering nutmeg and other spices.
