Hennessy VS is a cognac blended from over forty eaux-de-vie drawn from the four premier growing regions of Cognac. The grading system for cognac was created by Maurice Hennessy in 1865, and VS stands for very special.
It is bottled at 40% vol. and has a bright amber colour. The nose opens with fresh toast, roasted almond and brown sugar, followed by subtler vine fruit and sweet wood.
On the palate it is warm and creamy, with grape, citrus and apple, a good measure of wood and an added note of vanilla. The finish is of medium length, with a little spicy heat that fades into wood and almonds.
