The Alrik is a 2024 limited exclusive edition from Hammerschmiede in the Harz, released under the Hercynian name. It is a single malt in a 50cl bottle at 55.1% ABV.
The whisky was shaped in a first fill Pedro Ximénez quarter cask. The small cask format increases contact with the wood, which brings together dark fruit, sweet sherry, nuts, cocoa and spicy oak.
The nose offers raisins, plums, toffee, nuts and cocoa. On the palate there are dark dried fruits, caramel, chocolate and spicy oak. The finish is long, sweet, spicy and dry, with Pedro Ximénez sherry notes.
