High West Bourbon (70cl, 46%)

High West Bourbon is a blend of straight bourbons of different ages, made from more than one grain recipe and bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. The whiskeys spend at least two years in charred American white oak casks. The components include MGP bourbon from a mash of 75% corn, 21% rye and 4% malted barley, alongside a second recipe of 84% corn, 8% rye and 8% malted barley. The rye adds an earthy, lightly spicy character. It is bottled without chill-filtration and without added colour. The nose offers restrained caramel and sweet vanilla. The palate is rich and earthy, with a sweetness that recalls candy corn, honey nougat and sweet corn pastry. Vanilla stays in the finish, with a touch of caramelised apple and pecan pie.
