This is a 19 year old single malt from an undisclosed island distillery, distilled in 2007 and matured in refill hogsheads. Thompson Brothers bottled it at cask strength, 57.1% ABV, in a 70cl bottle.
It is the final release of their stock from this source, and the label carries artwork by Whiskyhobo.
The nose brings charred hazelnuts, dusty peated malt, burnt sage, tar and heather smoke. The palate is powerful and sharp, with citrus, heather honey, stewed apples, smoked ham and capers in brine. The finish is long and earthy, with salty peanut brittle, robust peat and cigar smoke.
