Highland Peated Malt 19 Year Old 2004 (Milroy's)

This is a 19 year old peated Highland single malt from 2004, bottled by Milroy's for its Soho Selection, a range of spirits with distinctive cask finishes. It was matured in an ex-hogshead. The character is ashy peat with a notable texture. The nose is peated but light and airy, with a fresh straw note and fruit compote. On the palate come pear drops, strawberry laces, crisp white pepper and raw vanilla pods, with the smoke working like a seasoning. The finish is long, with sweet, ashy smoke lingering.
