Hinomaru Sakura Ra is a Japanese malt whisky from Kiuchi Brewery, inspired by Japan's cherry blossoms, in a 70cl bottle. Its base is malt whisky aged in bourbon barrels, blended with malts matured separately in Sakura wood, cherry brandy, sherry and wine casks.
The nose is sweet, with fruit, candy, cherry and malt. The palate has sweet malt and ripe fruit with a cherry character, showing the influence of the varied casks. The finish is smooth and warming, with fruit and malt sweetness lingering.
