Hogshead is a Scottish blended malt that combines several single malts, about 30% of them from Islay and the rest from the Scottish mainland. The Islay part gives it a distinctly smoky character.
The whisky matured in hogshead-sized oak casks before Signatory Vintage bottled it at 43% in a 70cl bottle. It is chill-filtered and has no added colouring.
The nose offers peat smoke, sweet vanilla and caramel with a salty, maritime edge, plus mango, apple and passion fruit. The palate is sweet and smoky, with spicy oak, liquorice, salted caramel, coffee and chocolate. The finish is medium in length and lightly smoky, with peat smoke and dark chocolate.
