This is the 2023 release of Ichiro's Chichibu red wine cask, a Japanese whisky made from Japanese barley, in a 70cl bottle. It was matured in red wine casks sourced from France, New Zealand, the United States and Japan.
It is bottled at a cask strength of 50.5% ABV, without chill filtration or added colouring. The worldwide release is 11,800 bottles.
The nose offers ripe red fruit such as cherries and plums, with vanilla and spice. The palate is sweet and fruity, with gentle oak warmth and a touch of tannin. The finish is long, sweet and lightly spiced.
