Chichibu Red Wine Cask 2023 is a Japanese single malt from Ichiro's Malt, aged in red wine casks. The casks come from vineyards in France, the United States, New Zealand and Japan, and the whisky matured on its lees. It is bottled at 50.5% in a 70cl bottle, non-chill-filtered and of natural colour.
The colour is copper with red hues. The nose offers honey, fine wood, medlar, forest berries and citrus. On the palate, blueberry, citrus and medlar lead into mint, liquorice and cedar, with cocoa bitterness and smooth caramel sweetness. The finish is long, with cloves, candied orange peel and a lingering milk chocolate sweetness.
