Ichiro's Malt Wine Wood Reserve is a Japanese blended malt put together by Ichiro Akuto from single malts distilled at Hanyu and Chichibu. It is bottled at 46.5% in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky was matured in European oak casks that had previously held Japanese red wine.
The nose shows clear red wine aromas of red fruit and flowers, with citrus, mint, vanilla and wood. On the palate it has an oily texture and plenty of red fruit, including cherries, raspberries and blue grapes, alongside dark chocolate, peppery spice, vanilla and leather. The finish is medium in length, with hints of plum and almond.
