Isaac Bowman Pioneer Spirit is a straight bourbon bottled at 46% ABV (92 proof), made by A. Smith Bowman Distillery. It follows the distillery's Abraham Bowman Port-Finished Bourbon and brings that port finish into the permanent range.
The bourbon was aged for roughly four and a half to five and a half years in new charred American white oak, then finished for three to six months in port barrels from Virginia wineries and Portugal, made from American and French Limousin oak.
The nose has ripe red fruit, jam, caramel and cocoa. On the palate come cherry juice, raisins, orange, molasses and clove. The finish is long, with tart cherry, brown sugar, spiced oak and nutmeg.
