This is a single malt from Knockando in Speyside, distilled in 1963 and bottled in 1985 by Justerini & Brooks as Extra Old Reserve. The whisky is a deep antique gold with bronze glints.
The nose offers honeycomb, light toffee, dried apricot, sultana and orange oil, with oak resin, walnut and a little heather and gentle smoke. On the palate it is silky, with buttered brioche, caramelised citrus, stewed apple, pear and quince, almond, hazelnut, nutmeg and clove.
The finish is long and mellow, on honeyed malt, dried fruit and orange peel, with oak spice, cocoa and almond skin.
