Johnnie Walker Black Label 1960s

This is Johnnie Walker Black Label, an Extra Special Old Scotch Whisky from John Walker & Sons, in a bottling from the 1960s. Grain whisky from that period forms a creamy base, letting the smoky Islay malts and the richer Speyside malts come through. Sherry casks of the time add dark chocolate, roasted nuts and old leather. The nose brings dark cane molasses, black liquorice and Christmas cake, with cigar box and old tobacco behind. The palate is chewy, with wild honey and beeswax. The finish is medium to long, warm and dry, with black pepper, light cinnamon, polished oak and peat smoke.
