Black Label Extra Special is a blended Scotch whisky from John Walker & Sons of Kilmarnock, from the 1980s. It is in a 75cl bottle at 43%.
The nose opens with sweet winter spice, cinnamon and creamy vanilla, followed by candied orange, lemon curd, raisins and a touch of ripe pineapple, with light peat smoke and heather honey behind. The palate is oily and round, with barley sugar, toffee, damson, sultanas and coastal peat smoke. The finish is long and warm, like Christmas cake filling, ending in oak tannin, honey and clean ash.
