Johnnie Walker Double Black Label is a blended Scotch whisky in a 1 litre bottle at 40% ABV. It builds on the Black Label style with more Islay whisky and heavily charred casks, which bring a more intense flavour and greater emphasis on smoke. It was released generally in 2011, following a launch in travel retail.
The nose is slightly smoky and almost medicinal, with vanilla, a little tar, a touch of barbecue sauce, citrus and malt. The palate is creamy and full-bodied, with a malty core, peat smoke, soft wood smoke, salty butter, custard and cereal grains. The finish is long, with malt, boiled sweets, black pepper and cool smoke.
