Johnnie Walker Red Label Old Scotch Whisky 1980s (113cl, 40%)

Johnnie Walker Red Label is a blended Old Scotch Whisky from the 1980s, bottled at 40% ABV in a large 1.13 litre bottle. The label shows Kilmarnock, Scotland, and the words 'Same Quality Throughout the World'. On the nose it is ripe and smooth, with caramel, toffee and honey, malted barley, orange peel and green apple, over earthy peat smoke recalling pipe tobacco or clean ash. The palate is round and waxy with a full body, malty and savoury, with toasted sugar and ripe orchard fruit, then a drier, spicier turn of white pepper, ginger and oak. The finish is short to medium and clean, with lingering dry smoke, a light saline note and soft tannins.
