Jura Seven Wood is an Island single malt from the Jura Distillery, founded in 1810 on the Isle of Jura, bottled at 42% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It starts in first-fill American white oak ex-bourbon barrels, and part of the spirit is then finished in six virgin French oak casks from Limousin, Tronçais, Allier, Vosges, Jupilles and Les Bertranges, made with the Demptos cooperage.
The spirit is mostly unpeated, with a small portion of peated Jura malt adding a light smokiness.
The nose offers coffee, ginger, milk chocolate, vanilla, apple pie filling and cinnamon, with a whisper of island smoke. The palate brings crème caramel, baked peach, liquorice, candied orange, butterscotch and nutmeg.
