Karuizawa – 12 Year Old 2000 SMWS 132.6 (2013)

This is a Japanese single malt from the Karuizawa distillery, which stands at the foot of Mount Asama and has since closed. It was distilled in 2000 and bottled in 2013 by The Scotch Malt Whisky Society as cask 132.6, after 12 years in a single refill butt. The release was limited to 553 bottles. The refill butt lent the whisky an established sherry character, which sits alongside the robust Karuizawa spirit.
