Kilchoman – 2006 Vintage Release (70cl, 46%)

Kilchoman 2006 Vintage Release is an Islay single malt, distilled, matured and bottled by Kilchoman Distillery. It is bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle, and is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour. The nose is typically described as peat smoke, with dry ash and a driftwood fire by the sea, alongside fresh lemon peel, lime and green apple. The palate opens with power and an oily body, balancing bitter and sweet, with strong smoky peat and charcoal against candied yellow fruit and brown sugar. The finish is markedly dry, leaving clean, sweet ash on the tongue with ginger and fresh citrus.
