This is a 10 year old peated Kilchoman from 2011, matured in a fresh Oloroso butt and bottled at 57.3% in a 70cl bottle. It belongs to the A la Conquête des Origines 100% Islay series.
The nose combines beeswax, apricot kernel, mango, persimmon and bitter orange with delicate smoke, sea salt and camphor. Ginger, coffee, bourbon vanilla and rose develop with air.
On the palate, clove, ginger and nutmeg lead into chocolatey, liquorice-like peat smoke and fruit such as mango, orange, apricot and hazelnut. The finish is long, with rose petals, apricot jam, ripe mango and juicy orange over iodine-tinged peat.
