Casado is a limited edition single malt from Kilchoman, named after the Portuguese word for marriage. It was distilled in 2014 and matured for six years in fresh bourbon barrels.
Thirty-eight casks were then selected and married together in two 6,000 litre Portuguese red wine vats. It is bottled at 46% ABV with a peating level of 50 PPM, and 12,900 bottles were released worldwide.
The nose has ripe summer fruits, a touch of marzipan and maritime notes. The palate brings pepper and spice with fresh fruit and salty pear smoke, and the finish carries waves of hot spice, cooked fruits and lasting sweetness.
