Kilchoman – Loch Gorm Sherry Cask Matured 2024 Edition Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky (75cl)

Loch Gorm is Kilchoman's annual sherry-matured limited edition, and this is the 2024 release. It was distilled in 2014 and matured in 23 oloroso sherry butts, all from a single bodega. The name comes from the largest freshwater loch on Islay, next to the distillery, whose dark water is echoed in the coppery colour of the whisky. Sherry butts and hogsheads are both used, giving two styles of maturation, and the sherry sits alongside peat smoke and citrus from the farm-made spirit. The nose has cacao, leather, black cherry and light smoke. The palate brings roasted hazelnuts, dark chocolate and roasted dark fruits, giving way to light ashy peat. The finish is long and balanced, with a fresh Islay sea breeze.
