Kilchoman – Batch Strength (57%)

Kilchoman Batch Strength is an Islay single malt matured in a mix of recharred red wine casks, oloroso sherry casks and bourbon casks. A few drops of water were added after maturation to bring it to a batch strength of 57%. The red wine casks add red fruit and spice, the oloroso casks depth, and the bourbon casks a light vanilla sweetness. Alongside this sit Kilchoman's smoke and citrus character, dark fruit and salted caramel. The nose is red fruit, fresh cherries, heather blossom and strong peat smoke. The palate has toffee, rich spice, vanilla and lingering peat, and the finish is silky with fresh rusks, butter and honey.
