Kilchoman Casado is a 2022 Islay single malt from Kilchoman, released as a limited, experimental maturation. Casado is Portuguese for wedding, and the name refers to the way two sets of casks were brought together.
The whisky spent six years in 38 bourbon barrels, then two more years in two 6,000-litre Portuguese red wine casks, where it was married. It is bottled at 46% ABV, unfiltered and in natural colour.
The red wine time brings layers of rich red fruit and mixed spice, alongside maritime peat smoke and Kilchoman's citrus character.
