Kilchoman – Casado Limited Edition 2022 (46%)

An Islay single malt from Kilchoman, released in 2022 as the Casado limited edition, with 12,900 bottles. It is bottled at 46% ABV, non-chill-filtered and of natural colour. The whisky spent six years in fresh bourbon barrels. 38 casks were then selected and married for two years in two 6,000-litre Portuguese red wine casks. The nose has bonfire smoke with peach, plum and cherry, plus marzipan and maritime notes. On the palate, pepper and spice from the red wine casks give way to dry, salty peat smoke with apricot and lemon. The finish is long and spicy, with a jammy sweetness balanced by smoke.
