Kilchoman Cognac Cask Matured is a 2023 edition of the Islay distillery's single malt, bottled at 50% abv. It is the first time Kilchoman has used Cognac casks, 32 of them from the Bossuet cooperage in France, for a maturation of at least six years. The whisky was bottled in 2023, with 15,100 bottles released.
The nose brings pears and apples in honey with exotic spice, herbal notes and a hint of peat smoke. The palate offers citrus and apricot with cinnamon and nutmeg, buttery and creamy, with sweet peat smoke and toasted oak. The finish is long and smoky, with dried fruit, marzipan, citrus oil and ginger.
