Kilchoman – Machir Bay 2014 Release (46%)

Kilchoman Machir Bay takes its name from the beach close to the distillery. This 2014 release is a vatting of four and five year old whisky, and the four year old casks were given a further four weeks in oloroso sherry casks. It was brought down to 46% with Islay spring water and, as usual for the bottling, it is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour. The nose is stewed fruit with strong peat smoke. On the palate there are mellow fruit and vanilla with marked sweetness, and the finish is long and lingering.
