Kilchoman – Machir Bay (70cl, 46%)

Machir Bay is the flagship single malt from Kilchoman, an Islay distillery founded in 2005 by Anthony and Kathy Wills. It is named after the beach of the same name on the island and comes in a 70cl bottle at 46% abv. The whisky is a vatting of ex-bourbon barrels and oloroso sherry butts, joining coastal peat smoke with tropical fruit, malt and honeyed sweetness. Expect citrus, a floral note, juicy peaches and spice on the nose. Tropical fruit and a warming smoke follow on the palate. The finish carries citrus sweetness, sherry-soaked fruit, cracked black pepper and sea salt.
