Kilchoman – Machir Bay (70cl, 46%)

Kilchoman Machir Bay is an Islay single malt in a 70cl bottle, bottled at 46%. It was matured mainly in fresh ex-bourbon barrels, with a small share of Oloroso sherry casks. Kilchoman was founded on Islay in 2005 and grows its own barley, which it says no other distillery of more than 100 does. Each bottle is filled by hand, and Islay spring water is used to bring the whisky down to drinking strength. The character is maritime and fruity with a pronounced smoke, along with a rich creaminess, plenty of vanilla and caramel.
