Kilchoman – Machir Bay (70cl, 46%)

Machir Bay is a Kilchoman single malt named after what is described as Islay's most spectacular beach. It is bottled at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The whisky is a vatting of malt matured in both bourbon and sherry casks, with a high proportion of bourbon barrels. This gives a balance of aromatic peat smoke, citrus sweetness and tropical fruit. It is described as opening with coastal peat smoke, then tropical fruit, fresh vanilla and butterscotch, with herbaceous undertones and waves of stoned fruit and citrus sweetness.
