Kilchoman – Madeira Cask Matured Edition 2021 (50%)

This is a 2021 edition of Kilchoman single malt from Islay, bottled at 50% and peated to 50 ppm. It was matured for more than five years and three months in 46 ex-Madeira hogsheads, and it is non-chill-filtered with no added colour. The edition runs to 17,000 bottles. The nose combines campfire smoke with dried plums, dates, orange peel, baking spices and caramel. On the palate come lemon and orange zest, sweet peach, raisins and dark nut chocolate, with the smoke well integrated. The finish is long, with jammy sweetness from the wine, Christmas spices, dark fruit and Islay smoke.
