Kilchoman – Port Cask (2024 Edition) (50%)

A limited edition Islay single malt from Kilchoman, the third edition in its Port Cask Matured series, released in 2024. It is non-chill-filtered and naturally coloured, bottled at 50%. The whisky was matured for its full term in ruby port hogsheads, chosen from two contrasting ages, the youngest of them 6 years old. The nose combines sweet peat with red berries and a citrus edge, alongside cured meats and a hint of paprika and chorizo spice. On the palate, jammy strawberry and raspberry lead to smoked ham, cigar tobacco and bonfire ash, with an oily texture. The finish is a medium-long one of peat smoke, charcoal and syrupy red fruit.
