Kilchoman Sauternes Cask Edition 2024 is an Islay single malt bottled at 50%. It spent its entire maturation in Sauternes wine casks chosen personally by the distillery's founder, Anthony Wills. Three quarters of the casks were refills and one quarter were first-fill.
It was distilled in 2018 and bottled in 2024. It is the distillery's second Sauternes bottling, following the first by six years.
The nose is creamy and buttery, with shortbread, ripe tropical fruit, a little sea salt and peat smoke. The palate brings caramel toffee, butterscotch with candied tropical fruit, and lasting peat smoke. The finish is oily and complex, balanced between creamy fruit and maritime peat.
