Kilkerran 12 Year Old (46%)

Kilkerran 12 Year Old is a Campbeltown single malt from the Glengyle distillery and its first release with an age statement. It follows the Work in Progress bottlings, which led up to it over seven years. The malt is lightly peated at 12-15 ppm. It matured in a mix of 70% bourbon casks and 30% sherry casks, and is bottled at 46% without chill filtration or added colour. The nose has dominant oak, toasted marshmallow, dried fruit pudding, cherry, marzipan and a hint of peat. The palate brings citrus and orange peel, then vanilla, butterscotch, honeycomb and biscuit. The finish is thick and soft, with lime meringue and the oily, salty Campbeltown character.
